National Wedding Show Autumn 2016 Review
We are getting to that time of year when expectant brides and grooms begin the exciting, yet somewhat daunting, challenge of planning their perfect wedding day. There is so much to consider in the organisation, rings, venue, outfits, catering, cakes, DJs – the list can appear endless! The National Wedding Show at the Birmingham NEC is a great opportunity for those getting married to have a look at examples from exhibitors for all of their wedding day news. At www.my-weddinginsurance.co.uk, we like to have our fingers on the pulse of all the latest wedding industry developments, so we sent a team down to get the lowdown and report back on all of the hottest trends.
Focus On Feeling Fine
A brand new edition to the show for Autumn 2016 was The Feel Good Zone. It goes without saying that we all want to feel our best on the day of our wedding, this doesn’t just apply to how we look either. “Healthy mind, healthy body” goes the common expression and The Feel Good Zone is aimed at promoting well-being in both aspects. With great features such as a guided meditation class, a bridal bootcamp workshop and a dance clinic led by Seen On Screen Fitness, there was plenty of advice on how to get in tip-top shape prior to your wedding day.
Balletic Bridal Wear & A Highland Fling
The wedding catwalk is always one of the best attended areas of The National Wedding Show and this year was no different. As well as being able to view some of the latest dress designs by top-class brands such as Maggie Sottero, Madison James and Alexia Bridal, visitors to the show were treated to ballet dancing by the bridal models and traditional Scottish dancing by some men in kilts!
It’s Cheese Cake – But Not As We Know It!
The wedding cake has always traditionally been the centre piece of the wedding meal. A complicated confectionary construction designed to draw gasps from impressed wedding guests. There have been plenty of new wedding cake trends over the last few years, from glamorous metallic cakes to elegant ruffled ones, but this year’s trend is straight out of left field. Somerset cheese makers Godminster create elegant handmade cakes, constructed from some of their finest produce. Check out their wedding cheese cakes for something fun, alternative and delicious!
