Music To Our Ears!
“If music be the food of love, play on…” Orsino opined in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. This was certainly the case in our survey, in which we asked over two hundred people* what their perfect First Dance Song would be, and they provided us with a veritable banquet to choose from! So, now it’s time to face the music. What song topped the charts? Which artist stole our hearts? Find out below with our fun and friendly infographic!
THINKING ALONG THE SAME LINES
By far our most popular choice, was Thinking Out Loud by Grammy-award winning singer songwriter Ed Sheeran. A Thousand Years by Christina Perri and All of Me by John Legend were also popular picks.
TOP 10 ARTISTS
Of course, a band or singer can have more than one song. So, who took the gong in this particular contest? Ready for the encore? Yes, that’s right, it was Ed Sheeran again. Contributing other great songs such as Photograph and The A Team, the Yorkshire-born artist was an octave above others, such as Ellie Goulding and Aerosmith.
SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY
– One person surveyed told us that they thought the Hokey Cokey would be the best way to celebrate their nuptials. At least everyone would know the dance moves!
– Another thought that Hell Awaits by thrash metal band Slayer would be a great choice of tune. We’re not sure we’d want to be on that honeymoon…
– A unique selection came from someone who told us that the Scottish ceilidh song Strip the Willow would work for them and, having listened to it, we agree. Sláinte!
