Wedding dresses ‘must be cleaned and stored properly’
Wedding insurance customers may be interested to hear how they can best preserve their gowns after their big day.
In an article for Australian Vogue, designer and bridal expert Lisa Gowing explained it is important to have outfits dry cleaned as soon after the ceremony as possible.
“You need to clean your gown immediately as, over time, stains will set and they will become more and more difficult to remove,” she stated.
The expert recommended newlyweds ask a friend or family member to drop it off at the dry cleaners while they are on their honeymoon.
When it comes to storing the dress, Ms Gowing urged individuals to wrap the garment in acid-free tissue paper and place it in a sealable box.
However, carefully preserving gowns appears to be the last idea on some bride’s minds, as a new craze that involves trashing wedding dresses is said to be gaining popularity in the US.
