Mothers of the bride ‘should pick appropriate dresses’
Brides who have taken out wedding insurance ahead of their ceremony may want to encourage their mothers to dress appropriately for the occasion.
According to marketing and PR manager for Colour Me Beautiful Fiona Wellins, older ladies should be aware that “too much flesh or very clingy fabrics are not flattering”.
She suggested mature women opt for a simple, classic look, as more modern dress shapes may not necessarily be suited to their body shape.
Women who opt for a pattern must pick a design that fits their figure, Ms Wellins continued, noting large floral patterns will be “overwhelming” on petite women, while at the same time “demure flowers” will not suit those with a fuller body shape.
Mothers of the bride may want to take the wedding’s theme into consideration when selecting their outfit and Kim Herbing of The Wedding Community recently noted blue, sliver and ivory can give an event a luxurious feel, while green and red are ideal for Christmas-themed ceremonies.
