Cunard to offer cruise ship weddings
Overseas wedding insurance may be necessary for couples who opt to take advantage of a new service from Cunard Line enabling people to get married on their luxury cruise ships.
The firm will begin offering a selection of wedding packages for its Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria liners from spring next year.
Couples will be able to tie the knot once the cruise has been completed and Cunard president Peter Shanks said the company has had “a lot of enquiries” regarding marrying on one of its ships.
“Most of our competitors have been offering increasingly popular and lucrative ‘Weddings at Sea’ programmes and these are now very big business in the cruise industry,” he observed.
Couples will be able to buy tickets for the wedding programme from December and the firm is expected to reveal further details in the near future.
Cunard, which was founded in 1840, currently boats the world’s youngest cruise liner fleet, with its newest vessel, the Queen Elisabeth, named by the Queen in a ceremony last October.
