Cancelled Wedding turns into fundraiser
A woman from New York decided to make the most of her cancelled wedding by turning it into a fundraiser.
Robin Rogers was due to marry her fiancé George Overshaw and the couple has already paid over £2,000 for the reception venue.
When Robin and George called off their engagement Robin was keen not to let the money go to waste and decided to try to make some good come from the cancelation.
She set about organising a ticketed event charging $100 for each ticket and charity auction.
The event raised around $10,000 (£6000) for a New York soup kitchen.
Speaking in the New York Daily News Robin said:
“I feel great,”
“When something doesn’t work out it’s sad, but I’m really glad we got something good out of it.”
