A Hollywood ending for a fisherman and his bride
You would be forgiven for thinking it was the plot of a new romantic comedy.
A young British fisherman escapes his mundane life, taking tourist mackerel fishing, in search of excitement and fortune on the high seas.
Taking a job as a deck hand for a multi millionaire fishing mogul, the young man falls head over in heels in love with the bosses’ daughter.
After sweeping the young lady off her feet the couple declare their love for each other and marry in Canada.
Despite his happiness the groom longs to be able to celebrate with his family and friends back home. Luckily he has acquired a rather generous father in law who lends the couple his yacht for a trip back to blighty and a wedding reception to rival any that the people of Dartmouth have seen.
Far from a Hollywood creation the young couple are in fact Guy Barnett and his new wife Sarah.
Guy met Sarah when he worked as a deck hand for her father John Risley, the owner of seafood giant Clearwater Seafoods.
The couple married in Canada last Friday and pulled into Dartmouth harbour in John Risley’s £100m yacht on Tuesday for a wedding reception with family and friends.
Speaking of his arrival in the yacht Guy said:
‘We came back for a wedding reception on the yacht so that our friends here could attend,’
‘We are very grateful to the father of the bride for letting us use his yacht.
It is fantastic and very homely inside.’
