Fiona Welling, marketing manager at Colour Me Beautiful, provided tips for mothers-of-the-bride on how to select headwear that is flattering.
"The fascinator has become very popular … but if you do like a hat make sure you get the right size and brim for your structure and your face shape," she advised.
It was suggested many women will opt for a piece based on their own personal tastes, but the expert recommended thinking about styles and whether they frame the face in the best way possible.
For those unsure what footwear to choose, Ms Wellins warned against wearing a new pair for the first time on the big day, as it is important to be sure shoes will be comfortable.
Mothers-of-the-bride were encouraged to be careful when picking out an outfit, with petite ladies advised to avoid big patterns, as they may be "too overwhelming".
