Brides and grooms ‘must invest in wedding insurance’
Wedding insurance has been described as a sensible investment ahead of nuptials by one expert.
Insight analyst for general insurance at Defaqto Mike Powell advised brides and grooms to take out cover "as soon as money is committed" to any feature of the big day.
He explained how weddings are "very expensive" and many parts have to be paid a long time in advance of the services being delivered.
In order to protect against potential financial loss if a venue goes bankrupt or a caterer fails to deliver as promised, Mr Powell recommended carefully studying what is covered when selecting a policy.
"Consumers need to ensure that the features, benefits and levels of cover they need are provided by the wedding insurance policy that they choose," he stated.
Depending on how comprehensive the cover, insurance can provide peace of mind to the thousands of couples who spend an average of £20,000 getting hitched.
