Arsenal footballer Theo Walcott said to be engaged
One celebrity who may soon need wedding insurance is footballer Theo Walcott, following reports he is engaged.
The Sunday Mirror cited a source who claimed the sports star popped the question to his long-term girlfriend on New Year's Eve.
Walcott is said to have presented Melanie Slade with a diamond engagement ring and asked her to be his wife.
According to the insider, the bride-to-be is "over the moon" and thinking about a 2013 wedding.
"They will probably do it next summer when they have more time off to organise it – they won't be searching for a ¬magazine deal, though," the source remarked.
Walcott and Ms Slade are high school sweethearts, who have been dating since they were 15 years old.
The footballer rose to fame when he became the youngest ever England player at 17 years and 75 days after debuting in the senior team during a friendly against Hungary in 2006.
